Trucking along.

The Bakery has been growing, which I am incredibly happy about. There have been moments over the last month, when I have sat wondering whether anyone would be willing to by my bread that week, but thankfully those have been short-lived, due to expanding Crumbs community, who have been stripping my website’s shelves for the last couple of weeks.

In many ways, the old ways are the best ways, and it turns out the good old fashion paper flier is such an example. I do apologise to anyone who feels they have been spammed, but there really isn’t a better way for a young, local business to get the word out there. I have had 2 charming guys from Fulham (John+Peter) out pounding the streets of Putney every morning for the last couple of weeks, and they have done sterling work. So, a big welcome to all those that have jumped on board on the back of these little note that have dropped through your letter boxes.

I am now starting to think seriously about how I might go expanding. There is a huge unmet need for high quality, baked goods in our corner of South West London, and I am taking inspiration from those giants of the London bakery scene: The Dusty Knuckle, St John, Big Jo/Jolene, Pophams, Arome, to name just a few, and none of whom are anywhere near the SWs! The people of the SWs love delicious croissant and sourdough as much as the next Londoner, in my humble opinion and I would like to do something about it. Hopefully some concrete updates to come soon, but the gears are turning, I promise.

In the meantime, I will continue to hone and update my menu. I would love to hear any suggestions and ideas from any of you. On the flip side, anyone that would like some baking advice, please feel free to ask. There is nothing I like more than interacting with customers, instagramers or just people who ring me up. I have learnt all of the little I know through the generosity of others. Sharing and collaboration is the only way we get to a better and more equitable food system. So don’t hold back.
